So I have been thinking that I am absolutly terrible about a lot of things. Namely:
1. Keeping people updated on Shayna aka "Baby Momma" and Emmalyn
2. Having any form of accountablity about my training/weight
3. Communicating in general about my life which is changing super fast!
I hope to remedy those issues here!!!
So just to let you all know from the get go: this is going to be one of the most random blogs you will ever read. How so you may ask? WELL.....I am not going to be the only one writing it, I plan on having Baby Momma posting her own thoughts and stuff whenever she can. I know the title is called "The Family Blog"...but that is only a temporary title until I can think of a more all encompasing name.
Not only are there going to be two authors, the subject matter is going to be kinda crazy too. Naturally the majority of it will be about Emmalyn, our day to day life as new parents, anything funny/cute/exciting/frustrating she does and of course pictures! I also plan on being a little be selfish and posting about some of my training for whatever races I have coming up that I plan on racing, not to mention tracking my goal of getting my weight back down. (A quick side note on that: before we found out we were preggos, I weighed in at around 160 lbs, after I topped out at just over 180. As of this morning I am at 173. Talk about sympathy weight!!)
I also think that Baby Momma will want to post about loosing the baby wieght, but you will have to check back on that when she gets on here.
Now on to the reason you are all here (besides my witty rambleings of course)
Baby Update!!!
Baby Momma went to the doc yesterday (Wednesday June 20th). The doc told her that little girl is being stubborn and doesnt show any signs of coming in the immediate future. On a positive note, she said that Shayna looked amazing for being 9 months preggos, and was impressed by how little weight gain there was. We are still set for a due date of July 4th (which is only a short 12 days away, yikes!!!)
If you dont know already, we have the baby room about 95% done, all thats left is hanging stuff on the walls and a last minute clean up of residual trash and stuff. We are walking every night trying to get this show on the road, and Shayna has been sitting on her "birthing ball" a lot too!
Me Update!!!
Ok so now that the important stuff is out of the way, time to touch base with me :)As of right now, I dont have a specific race that I am training for, but I am still planning on riding The Cannon (my super slick amazing wonderful super fast super cool bike, picture later ;)) a few times a week. I am hoping to get over 100 miles a week.
Long term race goals for next summer is to finish my first Century ride. For those of you who dont know, that is 100 miles. There is the "Hotter 'n Hell Hundred" in Texas that I might do, unless I find a closer one.
The other long term goal is tentativly set for Summer of 2014:
Pikes Peak Cycling Hillclimb: formerly the "Assault on the Peak"
Yup...I plan on putting myself through 20 Kilometers of pure pain, climbing 4,720 feet. And for those of you who do not know: I am not what you would call a "climber" in the cycling sense.
I hope this finds everyone in good health and spirits, I promise to upload pictures as I get them :)
Cheers
-Tom
